Origin and history: The origin of the breed is uncertain. It could come from the natives of the Pyrenees region, or from the Catalan Shepherd.

Personality: Hardworking, intelligent, energetic, active, playful and receptive. The shaved-faced variety is less nervous and more obedient than the long-haired variety.
